About the writing

The authorship label on each post describes who wrote the words. Most of this blog is Human written. These counts update with the published posts:

Human written

Entirely conceived and written by me. I may use AI to research a topic, much as I would use Google, and cite sources when relevant. Research help doesn’t mean AI wrote the post.

The rantier posts, like Creative Angst and many of the newer ones, usually don’t even involve AI research. They’re mostly me vomiting text onto the page and taking one human cleanup pass. My more thoughtful writing is, unfortunately, often worse.

AI assisted

Predominantly written by me, with some AI-written text or structure mixed in. I come up with the ideas, write and rewrite most of the words, and make the editorial decisions. The label acknowledges the parts of the writing that came from AI.

Typed code and ADHD is the one example so far. The ideas were mine, but I went with some of the text and structure AI suggested, then rewrote most of it. I love the topic. I hate how the writing came out; it doesn’t sound like me. I’d like to write it fresh, from scratch, break it into several posts, and eventually retire the original. The topic deserves that. I also think more human-authored writing needs to exist, which is a good enough reason to do it myself.

Human edited

AI writes the full draft; I edit it. My role is primarily editorial, rather than writing most of the text myself.

AI written

AI writes and edits the text, even if I’m the one prompting it. Very light human edits still belong here.

Occasionally, while researching something, I get an AI explanation that’s so concise I don’t particularly want to rewrite it. In theory I could share one of those with little or no cleanup. I haven’t posted one yet, but this is the label I’d use.
